With over 35% of a building’s heat lost through its external walls, investing in effective insulation is one of the most impactful ways to improve energy efficiency and reduce utility costs. Insulated Render Systems, or External Wall Insulation (EWI), offer a flexible, cost-effective solution.
By adding a layer of insulation to exterior walls and finishing with a protective render, these systems minimise heat loss, enhance structural stability, and modernise a building’s appearance.
With our extensive experience installing EWI systems, we fully understand the advantages of this solution for various projects.
Some of the standout features of EWI include:
Thermal efficiency: EWI systems significantly reduce heat loss through the building envelope, leading to lower energy consumption and substantial savings on heating and cooling bills.
Weather resistance: The robust render finish shields against harsh environmental conditions, protecting the building’s structure from moisture ingress, wind, and temperature fluctuations.
Aesthetic enhancement: EWI systems offer exceptional versatility in design, with a wide range of textures, finishes, and colours to suit various architectural styles. This allows for modernising or preserving a building’s appearance, tailored to individual preferences.
Durability: Built to withstand impact and wear, EWI systems provide reliable performance with minimal maintenance. With a service life expectancy of 30 years or more, they represent a long-term investment in building quality and functionality.
Environmental impact: By reducing heat loss, insulated render systems significantly lower carbon footprints, helping buildings meet sustainability targets and align with environmental standards.
Steve Mountford, Site Manager at Eden Facades, a key player in numerous insulated projects for Eden Facades, shares his insights:
“Insulated render systems have many clear benefits. We have worked on many projects across various sectors with leading contractors such as United Living, Morgan Sindall, and Kier. We’re proud to call ourselves experts in this area.”
Having installed EWI systems for various projects, including new builds and remediation projects, below we highlight just a few projects we’ve worked on:
Little Reddings School, Hertfordshire
As part of the Department for Education’s School Rebuilding Programme, Eden Facades collaborated with Morgan Sindall to construct a net-zero carbon school in Bushey, Hertfordshire. The project involved installing an EWI Pro insulated render system with mineral wool insulation slabs chosen for their exceptional thermal and acoustic properties. Despite weather-related challenges, the team successfully delivered a sustainable educational facility.
Meadows Estate, Hounslow, London
Working in partnership with United Living Group, Eden Facades successfully upgraded the facades of 100 homes in the Meadows Estate, a social housing community in London. Despite challenges such as working on occupied properties and adverse weather conditions, the PermaRock Mineral Fibre External Wall Insulation (EWI) installation was completed on time, demonstrating our reliability and commitment to our clients.
Commenting on the work that Eden Facades carried out, Leanne Edmond, Decarbonisation Project Manager at United Living Group, said:
“The team’s compliance and quality is second to none. They really pulled it out of the bag to deliver for us. They’ve done a lot of work with our health and safety team too.”
Fairview PRU School, Basildon
Eden Facades collaborated with Barnes Construction to develop a new two-storey building for Fairview PRU School in Basildon, Essex. The project involved installing a Wetherby insulated render system alongside Proteus HR26 Honeycomb cladding and Trueline aluminium panels. The combination of materials provided a durable and aesthetically pleasing finish, enhancing the learning environment for students.
These projects demonstrate Eden Facades’ expertise in delivering high-quality Insulated Render Systems tailored to each client’s needs while contributing to energy efficiency and sustainability.
