Our North West London project has been shortlisted in the Best New Build – Domestic Project category.

Eden Facades played a key role in delivering a striking contemporary residential façade for a bespoke self-build home in North West London, designed by architect and self-builder Seb Ferrão.

The ambitious project combined advanced façade engineering with bold architectural design, resulting in a seamless rainscreen cladding system that wraps continuously from the walls to the building’s roof planes.

Constructed with a mass-timber cross-laminated timber structure, the home was designed with sustainability, thermal efficiency, and architectural quality at its core. Eden Facades worked collaboratively with the client from the early design stages through to installation, helping to develop the façade build-up, fixing strategies, installation sequencing and complex junction detailing required to realise the design vision.

The façade utilised Equitone fibre cement rainscreen cladding panels installed onto a stainless steel bracket and rail system more commonly associated with large commercial buildings. Hundreds of bespoke panels were individually cut and positioned to accommodate the building’s unusual geometry, with meticulous attention given to alignment, spacing and finish quality throughout the installation.

The project presented several technical and logistical challenges, including extremely restricted site access within a tight residential footprint, which required careful planning to safely and efficiently accommodate lifting operations and façade installation.

Despite the complexity, the project was delivered successfully and to the client’s approval, with the finished building closely reflecting the original architectural concept. The project has since attracted national attention after being selected for Channel 4’s Grand Designs, showcasing the high level of craftsmanship, collaboration and technical expertise involved in bringing this unique façade to life.

Best Use of a Brick Slip Cladding System

Deben Fields has been shortlisted in the Best Use of a Brick Slip Cladding System category.

Deben Fields is a major residential development in Felixstowe delivered by Kier Construction, comprising four apartment blocks and multiple housing plots designed to support high-performance, energy-efficient living. Eden Facades was appointed to deliver the brick slip façade package as part of a wider external envelope scope.

A defining challenge of the project arose shortly before works commenced, when the originally specified STO façade system became unavailable following the company’s liquidation in the UK. Eden Facades worked closely with Kier Construction and the wider design team to redesign the façade package using a compliant Benx RendaClad rainscreen brick slip system, ensuring the architect’s original design intent and programme objectives could still be achieved.

The brick slip installation required a high level of technical precision, particularly where the façade system needed to visually align with surrounding traditional brickwork already installed on the development. Extensive laser alignment and careful setting out were used throughout to ensure consistent coursing and a seamless architectural finish across the elevations.

The project was further complicated by changing site logistics and access requirements within a live multi-trade construction environment. As scaffold was progressively removed during the programme, Eden Facades adapted its installation approach using scissor lifts and cherry pickers to maintain progress safely and efficiently.

Despite the challenges, the completed façade package successfully delivered the required performance, quality and appearance standards, with Kier Construction praising Eden Facades’ professionalism, reliability, workmanship and collaborative approach throughout the project.
