Celebrating 15 Years of Eden Facades

In September 2011, our directors Tony Hill and Paul Michaelson began work on Eden Facades’ first project, a contract worth around £20,000 that involved removing and replacing existing cladding with new cladding and insulated render on a residential project. Fast forward 15 years and things look very different.

Today, Eden Facades has a team of 28, works with some of the region’s leading contractors and delivers major façade projects across London and the South East. Our work spans new housing, education and healthcare developments through to complex recladding and remediation schemes.

As we celebrate 15 years of Eden Facades, it is a chance to look back at how far the business has come, the people and relationships behind that journey and what comes next.

Where It All Started

In 2011, the business initially focused largely on domestic rendering, with early work coming through existing relationships and recommendations.

In the early days, Tony did all the estimating and surveying and managed the accounts, while Paul was heavily involved in managing projects and on-site delivery. Between them, they covered virtually every part of every job.

Today, they both remain closely involved in the day-to-day business, but the team around them looks very different. A team of dedicated experts now spans estimating, commercial, project management, operations, finance, HR, SHEQ and façade design.

In 2025, we moved into larger offices to accommodate our growing team and provide the space needed for the next chapter of Eden Facades.

For Tony, one of the most rewarding parts of that growth has been seeing people develop alongside the company:

“In the last 15 years it’s been great seeing people come into the business, develop their skills and progress. We have a brilliant team with specialist knowledge across the business, and being able to give people the tools and opportunities to build their careers means a lot.”

The business may be much bigger than it was in 2011, but the principle remains the same: Great People, doing a Great Job.

Growing Alongside Our Clients

Today, Eden Facades works with contractors including Kier Construction, Morgan Sindall and R G Carter while developing newer relationships with companies such as Boom Construction and CBG Construction.

For us, those relationships are one of the clearest measures of success.

“Eden Facades has always been built on repeat business and recommendations. We want clients to come back because they trust the team, the quality of the work and the way we approach their projects,” adds Paul.

The scale and complexity of the projects we deliver have also grown considerably. That first £20,000 contract has been followed by major schemes across residential, education, healthcare, commercial and regeneration projects throughout London and the South East.

Our Services Have Grown Too

From our beginnings in rendering, Eden Facades now delivers insulated render systems, rainscreen cladding, lightweight steel framing, windows and curtain walling, remediation and other building envelope solutions.

The introduction of our in-house design team allowed us to become involved earlier, working with contractors to develop practical details, consider buildability and identify potential issues before they reach site.

We have also expanded our façade investigation and remediation capabilities. Intrusive surveys allow our technical teams to open sections of existing façades and establish what is actually behind the external finish, giving clients a much clearer basis for planning remedial work.

The façade industry itself has also changed considerably during our 15 years, particularly in the period following the Grenfell Tower fire. Greater scrutiny of fire safety, competence and accountability, alongside the introduction of the Building Safety Act, has transformed expectations across the sector.

Eden Facades has evolved with those changes, developing its remediation expertise, intrusive surveying, in-house design capability and fire-safety credentials to help clients navigate increasingly complex façade requirements.

It is a long way from where we started, but the reason for evolving has always been simple: to provide better solutions for our clients.

Getting It Right First Time

One philosophy has remained particularly important throughout those 15 years: getting the job right first time.

For us, that starts well before installation. It means understanding the project properly at tender stage, asking questions rather than making assumptions, considering buildability through design and maintaining standards through procurement, installation and inspection.

Our IFC Certification for cavity fire barrier installation, SWIGA membership and approved installer status across a range of façade systems provide further evidence of those standards.

Recognition Along the Way

It has also been rewarding to see our teams’ work recognised across the industry.

Our first Facades Awards UK win came in 2022, when Addington Valley Academy, delivered with Valcan, won Best Use of Fibre Cement Cladding Panels.

Further recognition followed in 2024 when West End Gate won Best New Build Project – South at the Facades Awards UK. That same year, our Meadows Estate project in Hounslow was shortlisted at the Construction News Specialist Awards for Project of the Year by a Specialist Contractor, subcontract up to £2 million.

In 2025, Eden Facades was named Contractor of the Year in the Construction and Engineering category at the Business Awards UK.

And our 15th year could bring further recognition, with two projects shortlisted at the Facades Awards UK 2026.

Awards are never the reason we do the work, but they are welcome recognition for the team and the clients, suppliers and manufacturers involved in delivering these projects.

Here’s To the Next 15 Years

Looking at a photograph of our first project from 2011 alongside one of the schemes we are delivering today makes it easy to see how much has changed.

But we still have plenty more to achieve. The focus for the years ahead is to continue developing Eden Facades while protecting the values that have helped us get this far.

We want to keep growing our team and creating opportunities for people to progress. We want to continue strengthening our design and technical capabilities and finding new ways to support our clients. And we want to maintain the long-term relationships that have played such an important role in our success while building new ones.

Paul Michaelson adds:

“When you compare where we started with where the company is today, there is a lot that has changed. The projects are bigger, the team has grown, and the technical side of what we do has developed enormously.

“What we want to make sure does not change is the way we approach the work and the relationships we have with our clients.”

From Tony and Paul in a small office and a £20,000 first project to a 28-strong team of façade specialists delivering major schemes across London and the South East, it has been quite a 15 years. Here’s to the next 15!
