The BBC have this morning (28th Nov 2013) reported that the Government are planning to extend ECO for 2 years but there is no indication that targets will be increased. This would effectively allow the cost of ECO to be spread over a longer period of time thus reducing the cost to customers. The Warm Homes Discount will also go back into general taxation. The Government expects these combined changes to reduce bills by around £50 a year.
No news was released about changes to measures such as the addition of all cavities, nor was there mention that HHCRO would join the Warm Homes Discount and move into general taxation. Further discussions are under way so the final shape of changes may still be unknown until the 5th December Autumn Statement.
