How we consistently deliver real value for our clients

This summer, we were very pleased to discover that we had been voted ‘Contractor of the month’ by Berkeley Homes Central London, for our involvement at the West End Gate site.

We’re very proud of this achievement, because when it comes to making a decision about who to work with, clearly all clients have a choice. We know that selecting a sub-contractor with the right knowledge and experience can significantly impact whether a project successfully meets budget and time schedules.

Our practical experience of working in varied environments and sectors and with a huge range of different materials puts us in a great position to support contractors who are facing challenges like site access, material availability, sustainability goals and unsociable work hours.

This experience results in a flexibility that strengthens relationships, as contractors know they can rely on us. The partnerships we’ve established with our clients over the years are built on the confidence they have in us in supporting their delivery intentions, and it comes down to our three fundamental beliefs:

• We do what we say we’re going to do
• We do a good job
• We are good people

Talk is cheap of course, but because we deliver the same high-quality work for all our clients, regardless of the size of the job, we’re able to demonstrate how we consistently uphold standards and why clients choose to work with us again and again to help them get both the visual end result they are after, but also the project completion end results as well.

Award-nominated quality

Completed in winter 2021, the architect-designed, purpose-built Forest Bridge School in Maidenhead needed to improve their facilities to allow them to expand.

Working with Kier Construction Southern, we were brought on board to install Kingspan insulation, SideRise fire barriers, and Siberian larch timber cladding to the exterior walls of the school using the Nvelope NV6 system.

The Nvelope NV6 system uses flexible point brackets, with the bracket spacing determined by the dimension and weight of the cladding, as well as local wind loads. Installing the larch cladding using this system resulted in a high-end finish, and we were delighted to discover that our work has been recognised and shortlisted for RCI Magazine’s UK Facade Awards UK 2021.

Working together to keep projects moving

With the best will in the world, we understand that sometimes factors outside everyone’s control mean that projects don’t always go exactly as planned, which is why it’s so important to work with a sub-contractor that has the ability to be adaptable.

Working with main contractor United Living at Iveagh Court in Bracknell, the large-scale refurbishment regularly encountered new challenges, meaning that our team needed to be very flexible in terms of how and when they could access the site, working around the other trades to cause minimal disruption to the overall schedule.

Mark Rains, Senior Site Manager at United Living, comments: “It certainly was a challenging job, not straightforward, but Eden were very adaptable, and we worked very well together to keep the project moving forward.”

Providing clients with peace of mind

The Government-backed programme to support the removal or remediation of cladding similar to the one used at Grenfell is important work, crucial for keeping people that live within the affected buildings safe.

We were chosen by well-established contractor RG Carter to work with them on the cladding removal and refix for a local housing association at De Grey Road in Colchester, to carry out works that had been recommended by an independent cladding consultant. Gavin Leeks, Building Solutions Manager at RG Carter, explains why we were chosen for the job: “Eden Facades were efficient and professional, and gave us the confidence they would do a good job.”

On all projects, providing a safe and long-lasting outcome for our client is one of our highest priorities, and in this case due to the sensitivity of the work being carried out, the Health and Safety Executive visited the site with a specialised task force to assess the works. The HSE were happy that everything was being carried out to their satisfaction and in line with their guidance, and as a result giving RG Carter and their client peace of mind.

“These projects are a just small selection of completed works that demonstrate why clients choose to work with us,” Tony Hill, Managing Director at Eden Facades explains, “at our core, we are good people, and we know that we do a good job. Ultimately, clients come back to us because they know they can trust us to deliver, every time”.

When it comes to choosing a sub-contractor, considerations should include whether the sub-contractor in question can demonstrate the relevant experience and a high quality of work, their attention to on-site health and safety evaluations, and what sustainability measures or practices they have in place. Understandably, cost must also be a major contributing factor, but a balance must be struck to ensure that you end up with a facades partner capable of ensuring the project is delivered to your standards and time frame.
