Project Description
Eden Facades has been working with main contractor St Edward, part of the Berkeley Group, on the development of The Longwater Collection at Green Park Village in Reading.
Having worked on a previous phase of this project a few years ago, we’ve been glad to continue our established and successful working relationship with Berkeley, again showcasing our expertise in delivering high-quality cladding solutions.
The project shows our commitment to quality and effective project management, reinforcing our ability to foster enduring relationships in the construction industry and ensuring project success through teamwork and trust.
A reliable team that’s up to the task
The Longwater Collection at Green Park Village in Reading is comprised of three buildings, each housing sixteen modern one and two-bedroom apartments. Located within the spacious 60-acre Green Park Village and set beside a scenic lake, this development introduces a novel, sustainable village concept.
At the Longwater Collection, we incorporated cutting-edge Hilti fire protection. Specified by the client for its ease of installation and proven efficacy in fire prevention, the Hilti option will prove critical in ensuring safety across the buildings.
George Dogaru, Site Manager at Eden Facades, comments on the Hilti fire protection system:
“Hilti’s fire barrier system is well known for its straightforward installation process and impressive defence against fire risks. The system surpassed required safety standards and could be seamlessly integrated into the overall construction.
“Beyond technicalities, Hilti was specified by the client because their solutions are designed with environmental considerations in mind. For example, they are renowned for re-engineering and reformulating products – including their fire barrier systems – to meet green certification criteria.”
A large part of the project included the installation of Hardie Plank cladding, a natural-looking low-maintenance finish, across the three buildings finished with copings, aluminium fins and soffits by Trueline.
As part of the same development phase, Woodlands, a separate five-storey block consisting of 40 apartments, is currently underway and is due to be completed in Spring 2024. For this building, our scope includes the installation of SFS, Y-Wall Board, insulation, cladding, copings, soffits, fascias and fins.
The Metsec Steel Framing System (SFS), is a good option thanks to its lightweight but strong construction qualities, alongside Hardie Planks cladding by Vivalda, resulting in a natural-looking and structurally sound complex.
Proactive planning and effective collaboration ensure seamless operations
We’re glad to report it’s been a smooth process at the Green Park site, largely devoid of significant challenges like delays and disruption. We believe this is down to our proactive approach and planning, both key aspects of how we work at Eden Facades.
When we go into a job, to support the smooth running of a project, we aim to secure supplies well in advance which ensures materials are available when needed and avoids unnecessary delays.
Our experience in collaborating effectively with stakeholders, including suppliers and contractors, also plays a major part in pre-empting and resolving potential issues before they escalate.
Building a lasting partnership through reliability and effective communication
This isn’t the first time we’ve worked with Berkeley Group. We often get repeat contracts with many developers. Why? We believe it’s down to our commitment to reliability, effective communication, and the ability to get the job done right, first time.
We’ve consistently demonstrated the ability to deliver on time and within budget, whilst upholding high standards in what we do. This reliability has been a key factor in forging so many successful partnerships with main contractors and across our whole supply chain.
Our company has also maintained clear and timely communication throughout the project. A commitment to high-quality handovers and regular updates has solidified our reputation as a dependable partner.
Tony Hill, Managing Director at Eden Facades, comments:
“For us it’s all about creating a strong partnership, reflecting the construction industry’s shift towards a model where collaborators share project objectives and risks. We turn up and show proactive planning, effective on-site collaboration, and show our teamwork skills.
“I’m happy to announce that we’re already in talks with this same developer about another project. When you have a reputation as reliable and quality-driven, people want to work with you. We approach every project with extraordinary operational efficiency and quality installation.”
