Project Description
Renaissance and Baroque Court is a stunning contemporary apartment complex finished in neo-functionalist style with a dash of art deco. The apartments are ideally situated in a fantastic West London location, close to Hounslow Central tube station and just twenty minutes into central London.
The redevelopment of these apartment buildings has resulted in contemporary, open-plan living spaces designed to the highest quality standards. The exterior dwellings incorporate balconies providing striking views over Hounslow Heath, Twickenham and beyond.
United Living, the main contractor on the project, has a broad array of specialist experience in delivering new accommodation, renovating existing properties and responsive servicing. With a fantastic portfolio of work nationwide, we were delighted to collaborate with United Living again on this significant regeneration.
Working with an experienced team gives peace of mind.
As a result of the programme launched by the Government to identify and prioritise the removal or remediation of cladding similar to that found on Grenfell Tower, building owners are taking action to review fire risk across all buildings to keep buildings and their inhabitants safe. The entire building industry is working together to make the necessary changes.
We were brought on board by United Living as the specialist sub-contractors. Our scope was to remove the existing EPS insulated render system and sheathing boards from the residential blocks, replacing them with an A-rated sheathing board and Wetherby’s mineral fibre insulated render system. We are working with a growing number of clients on cladding remediation projects, and at over 5000 sqm, this was one of our largest strip and re-clad contracts to date.
Wetherby EWI was specified for this project, bringing superb quality, efficient installation, and a stunning colour range. The versatile non-crack formulation and ultra-violet proof pigments permit large surfaces to be uniformly rendered with excellent colour consistency.
With the industry’s current focus very much on cladding remediation, the quality assurance procedure for the job was rightly highly rigorous, with QA systems playing an ever increasingly important role in guaranteeing that fire breaks and windows are installed in accordance with updated fire safety and building legislation.
Our team were aware that excessive heat could impact the application and finish of the render – in very warm weather, rendering can dry out too quickly, causing shrinking or resulting in an uneven finish – so it was a resounding achievement that our team saw to it that the task was concluded before the July 2022 heatwave, and soaring temperatures.
Delivering to the highest standard, ahead of schedule
United Living were very happy with the outcome of this first-class renovation project, as Ersin Syuleyman, Site Manager at United Living, explains:
“We’re well ahead of schedule on this programme, thanks to Eden Facades and everyone working on-site. Speaking on behalf of the United Living team, I have to say that we have no complaints at all. Typically, on a project this size, issues or challenges come up that can present difficulties, but whenever we have asked Eden something, they get it done straight away.
“Our client, A2 Dominion, is very impressed too, and there will definitely be more projects as a result of the fantastic work here, and that’s thanks to Eden.”
Eden Facades Project Manager Steve Mountford commented on the successful partnership: “We always enjoy working with the team at United Living, and this project has been no exception – we welcome any future collaboration.
“There is a real sense of achievement seeing this highly valued apartment block looking great and meeting modern building standards – something we cannot underestimate in any way. Our teams from various disciplines did very well to ensure the render was in place before the hot weather in July.
“Regarding new building legislation passed by Parliament earlier this year, I’m very pleased to say that everyone at Eden Facades has been rigorously trained to identify non-compliant products. We’re proud of our extensive expertise in replacing these old products with safe alternatives.”
